Community members are invited to a luncheon on 15 October at the Billa Billa Sport and Recreation Club to celebrate rural women's contributions to our community and encourage community connectedness.

This International Rural Women’s Day Luncheon is jointly funded by the Australian and Queensland governments under the Disaster Recovery Funding Arrangements.

The event will feature renowned speaker Robyn Moore, widely recognised for her ability to inspire and empower her audience to reach their full potential. She will share insights on regenerating passion, energy, productivity and a healthy work-life balance while reminding yourself of what truly matters, even in challenging circumstances.

Robyn’s voice has been heard in most Australian homes through her work as a voice-over artist, including the voice of Blinky Bill in the television series ‘The Adventures of Blinky Bill’, and as all the female characters of the award-winning ‘How Green Was My Cactus’, Australia’s longest running radio series.

Councillor Susie Kelly, Council’s portfolio holder for rural services and Deputy Chair of the Local Disaster Management Group, said, “Rural women play a vital role in our community, and we are proud to host this event in their honour. Robyn Moore’s inspiring message will no doubt empower and motivate us to continue to thrive, despite the challenges of living in rural areas."

The luncheon will include a catered meal, lucky door prizes, and a full bar. Tickets are $25pp and can be purchased via https://www.trybooking.com/CVGFP.

This event is part of a broader community disaster preparedness program supported by the Queensland Government, including the Inglewood Community Basketball Day, free Rural and Remote First Aid Training, and the Police Citizens Youth Club Goondiwindi Inflatables Day.

“We encourage everyone to join us for this special event and celebrate the strength and character displayed through the contribution of women in our community,” Cr Kelly said. “It will be a lovely afternoon to come together, share a meal, be inspired and enjoy each other’s company.”
