Goondiwindi Regional Council is pleased to announce two upcoming public community meetings in Inglewood. The meetings will provide updates on key local issues and gather community feedback.

Council will hold meetings at the Inglewood Civic Centre during and after business hours to ensure maximum community engagement. The meetings will occur on Wednesday, 28 August 2024, at 2 pm and 5.30 pm, following the Inglewood Ordinary Meeting, which is also open to the public.

The meetings will provide an opportunity for residents to give feedback on the Council’s plans for several significant local projects, including:

  • An update on alternative site for the Inglewood RV camping
  • The future of the Inglewood Recreation Centre following flood damage. This includes the future location of the gym and exploring alternative uses for the remainder of the facility.
  • The sale of surplus vacant Council land on Regent Street, Inglewood, is to increase the housing supply.
  • Council’s plans to maximise use and investment in community facilities in Inglewood.
  • An update on the Casa Mia independent living refurbishment.

“As always, there are lots of matters in Inglewood for Council to consider - from the recent appointment of a contractor to refurbish the Casa Mia facility, to a discussion on relocating the free Inglewood RV camping to near the Bowls Club, and the future of the flood damaged Inglewood Recreation Centre,” he said.

“We are committed to engaging with our community and ensuring that everyone has a voice in the decisions that affect them,” reaffirmed Mayor the Honourable Councillor Lawrence Springborg AM. “These meetings are an important opportunity for residents to learn more about our plans and to share their thoughts and ideas. We value your input and look forward to your participation.

“The Community Consultation meetings will follow the August Ordinary Meeting of Council being hosted in Inglewood. When I was first elected to Mayor, I made an election commitment to hold one Ordinary Meeting in Inglewood and Texas every six months on rotation throughout my term. I believe it is important that we bring core decision-making to the wider Goondiwindi Region,” said the Mayor.

Council encourages all interested residents to attend one of the Community Consultation meetings at 2 pm or 5.30 pm.
