As Safety Advocates, Dan and Debbie play a crucial role in raising awareness about the importance of safety for individuals, communities, and organisations. They emphasise the significance of workplace safety and the devastating personal effects an injury or death can have on workers and their families through first-hand experience.

The husband-wife team will highlight the importance of workplace health and safety by encouraging employees to speak up about any hazardous or unsafe situation and the profound effects of an injury on both the workers and their loved ones.

The 45-minute event will also include a short film called ‘I love you, Dad – The Dale Kennedy story’ – which shares the families heartbreak after their son’s preventable death while working in the ceiling space of a Cairns school.

Council is dedicated to ensuring the safety of its employees through maintaining up-to-date safety policies, regulations, training, and resources.

This commitment also extends to fostering a safe work environment throughout the entire region, and Council is pleased to be able to share this learning opportunity with the broader community.
