  • Thanks to the support and funding provided by the Queensland Government's Building Our Regions Round 6 initiative and the Goondiwindi Regional Council, the replacement Texas raw water pipeline is complete
  • The replaced pipeline stretches from the Dumaresq River to the Texas water treatment plant ensuring a more secure water supply

The Texas raw water rising main pipeline replacement project is now complete, resulting in a substantial decrease in the likelihood of major water supply disruptions to the township.

The pipeline is an essential component of the regions infrastructure and carries untreated water to the Texas Water Treatment Plant. This project was vital in ensuring that the community has access to safe drinking water.

The initiative comprised the replacement of the pipeline, which stretches from the Dumaresq River to the Texas Water Treatment Plant, and also collects water from the Texas bore enroute.

This infrastructure project was developed with the support of the Queensland Government’s Building Our Regions Round 6, in association and Goondiwindi Regional Council.

Funding from the Queensland Government’s Building Our Regions Round 6, an initiative of the Department of Regional Development, Manufacturing and Water, contributed $510,000 at approval, and Goondiwindi Regional Council, provided $381,000 in funding.

Mayor of the Goondiwindi Region the Honourable Cr Lawrence Springborg AM said the $510,000 allocation from the Building our Future Fund by the Queensland Government towards the replacement of the raw water pipe shows confidence in our region.

“Residents in Texas and the surrounding areas who are connected to the water reticulation network can now be reassured that they will have access to a safe and uninterrupted water supply,” Cr Springborg said.

The original pipeline had been in use for many years and was found to be in need of replacement due to frequent maintenance issues.
