  • Council renews their subscription to the www.GoondiwindiRegion.com.au website and social media services for another 12 months
  • Cr Lawrence Springborg expressed his satisfaction that the website is fulfilling its intended purpose
  • Goondiwindi Region website attracts over 94,000 visitors in the past year

A year ago, Goondiwindi Regional Council purchased a membership to the privately operated GoondiwindiRegion.com.au (GR) website for $45,000 (plus GST) with the goal to drive an increased digital presence, crafting Goondiwindi Region’s reputation as a premier visitor destination.

The high-quality platform run by local Rebecca Cover enables subscribers to find local visitor information, events and community groups easily in one place.

The GR online medium complements Council’s website and Council’s official Facebook page: www.facebook.com/grcqld

Over the course of the previous year, there has been a significant rise in the amount of individuals utilising the website. Beginning in 2021/22 with a viewership of over 53,000, the number has surged to over 94,000 as of 2023.

Mayor of the Goondiwindi region the Honourable Cr Lawrence Springborg AM holds Council’s portfolio for economic development, tourism and events, expressed his satisfaction that the website is fulfilling its intended purpose.

“The GR website showcases the region to prospective residents and visitors,” Cr Springborg said, “It’s a one-stop-shop for visitors and locals to discover events, local towns, places to stay, and things to do, eat and drink.”

The remarkable 75% increase in the userbase of the website in the last year can be attributed to several factors like more businesses and local community groups contributing information to the site, along with the website's content expansion, intensified marketing efforts, and the growing interest in the Goondiwindi region.

“Council identified an improved digital presence to be a priority action as part of the region’s Visitor Economy Strategy,” Cr Springborg said, “The membership to the GR website forms part of the Goondiwindi Regions growing reputation as a quality visitor destination.

“This website allows even more people to discover our wonderful region and takes advantage of an existing quality tourism offering while streamlining Council’s own website,” he said.
