Goondiwindi Regional Council have once again acquired funding through the Tourism Events Grant to support the Inglewood State School P&C Bike Ride which will now be held on Saturday 20-21 May 2023.

The funds for the trail ride of $2000 will be distributed annually for a period of three years.

The Bike Ride is a family friendly event, which attracts more than 500 competitors and 200 spectators, volunteers, and crew from throughout Queensland and New South Wales.

Three ride categories from peewee through to novice and open offer adventurous riders and their metal steed some of the region’s most picturesque creek crossings, open paddocks and forest hillside terrain to traverse.

P&C Secretary Mrs Lisa Anderson said the P&C appreciate the continual support from Council.

“The funds help cover the cost of upgrading the tracks, clearing of the helipad and upgrading communications for safety.

“There are some excellent hill climbs and hard technical sections of track to challenge even for the best riders,” Ms Anderson said. “Some sections are quite rocky, providing a great challenge and the views from hilltops are spectacular, definitely worth taking a break to soak up the scenery.”

The Tourism Event Grant was established in recognition of the role events play in fostering regional tourism and economic development.

Mayor of the Goondiwindi region the Honourable Cr Lawrence Springborg AM said Council actively supports and promotes many events across our region.

“The Inglewood State School P&C Committee have done a fantastic job of growing this event in Inglewood, and as a Council we are proud to able to support them as they deliver a quality experience which benefits the local community and economy.

“The economic value of the event is estimated to exceed previous years as well as being an exciting fundraiser for the hard working committee.

“This is regional living at its best,” Councillor Springborg said.

Council encourages families to stay a few extra nights in the region.
