  • Goondiwindi Regional Council recognises that art and culture contribute to our vibrant community and lifestyle
  • Lanescape Inc. will receive $12,000 from Council as an annual community grant for the installation of artwork

Goondiwindi Regional Council is pleased to announce its support to Lanescape Inc. who has been successful in securing a guaranteed-annual community funding grant after approaching Council with the aim of simplifying the funding application process.

Lanescape Inc, a community arts group has obtained funding under Council’s Community Grants program; they will receive $12,000 annually towards art installations.

Lanescape's future, as outlined in the five-year Masterplan Council approved in 2022, is constantly expanding and evolving based on feedback received from the local community, artists, and Council involvement.

Councillor Phil O’Shea who holds the portfolio for Health, Ageing, Arts and Culture said Lanescape's public works play a vital role in promoting tourism, fostering community engagement, and advancing arts and culture throughout the region.

“Since its inauguration, Lanescape has focussed on creating public artwork throughout the region of Goondiwindi with the intention of creating an art trail.

“It is also expected that an event will happen annually, with the next Lanescape festival scheduled on Friday 13 October this year, and $2,000 is allocated to the delivery of the event,” Cr O’Shea said.

This decision reflects Council’s support and recognition that art and cultural activities significantly contribute to the community’s way of life, social well-being and foster an engagement with the arts consistent with other events across the region – the Talwood Festival of Small Halls, Texas Festival of Small Halls, Goondiwindi State High School – Expressive Arts Week and the Texas Country Music Festival.

“This decision delivers certainty of funding year after year and also cuts back on red tape,” Cr O’Shea said.
