Council is proud to have renewed their Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with the Yelarbon R.S.L. Memorial Hall for a further three years.

Council met with the local committee to identify and clarify the roles and responsibilities of each party in April as part of their usual renewal process.  Under the new MOU, Council has taken on additional maintenance functions, including air-conditioning services, and maintenance, to assist the Yelarbon Hall Committee in managing the asset effectively.

One of the more significant developments in this new MOU is that the adjacent public park management will now fully be the responsibility of Council.

Goondiwindi Regional Council Mayor, the Honourable Councillor Lawrence Springborg AM said Council's approach is to empower local community groups to manage and guide the direction of key community assets,” Cr Springborg said.

“Council's dedication to providing community facilities and maintaining positive relationships with managing committees is a priority.

This latest Yelarbon RSL Memorial Hall Restoration MOU is a 3-year agreement.

Councillor Susie Kelly who holds the portfolio for Rural Services and Community Facilities said the Council looks forward to continuing its positive relationship with the Yelarbon Hall committee, where passionate volunteers deliver valuable services.

“As part of the MOU the Hall committee will be responsible for continuing to handle the booking and hiring, some maintenance tasks, and applying for funding to facilitate improvements and enhancements,” Cr Kelly said.

Council, on the other hand, will undertake various maintenance responsibilities, including structural upkeep of the hall, toilet cleaning, grounds maintenance such as mowing and tree trimming, annual pest control, and maintenance of the interior paintwork of the hall.
