The latest community projects and topics across the Goondiwindi Region will be discussed on Wednesday, 23 August, at the Inglewood Civic Centre, marking the final Ordinary Meeting (OM) scheduled in Inglewood.

Community members are invited to join the Mayor of the Goondiwindi Region, the Honourable Cr Lawrence Springborg AM and councillors from 9.00 am sharp, followed by a morning tea at the Inglewood Civic Centre Council Chambers.

This OM provides an opportunity for students from St Maria Goretti School and Inglewood State School to observe firsthand how a council meeting is conducted and how elected members contribute to the decision-making processes. In the past, the meeting has been held during the September school holidays. However, this date now allows the Inglewood students the opportunity to attend.

Cr Springborg said he looks forward to meeting everyone and listening to their views and opinions about local matters firsthand.

"It's so important to have the opinions of our smaller towns represented."

Council committed to holding an Ordinary Meeting in Inglewood and Texas on rotation for the duration of the four-year-term.

"I've said many times that my fellow councillors and I are proud to represent this Council and work for the residents across the entirety of our local government area, all 19,000-plus square kilometres," he said. "The Goondiwindi Region is an enormous land area made up of many small towns and communities, each with their own opportunities and challenges that require representation.

The Ordinary Meeting is open to the public from 9.00 am and all community members are welcome.

The Mayor also regularly works from the Inglewood Civic Centre and Texas Cultural Centre -usually on the fourth Friday of the month in Inglewood and the second Tuesday of the month in Texas.

The next Mayoral monthly visit to Inglewood is Friday 25 August.

Appointments are available in alignment with the Mayor's visits to these towns, and residents are encouraged to call 07 4671 7437 to make an appointment. Appointments are also available in Goondiwindi and Talwood.
