Mayor of Goondiwindi Regional Council, the Honourable Lawrence Springborg AM, has announced that the paving and sealing of Goodar Road, which connects the Barwon Highway to Kondar Road, has now been completed.
“Goodar Road has been a priority for Council over the last few years as we repeatedly committed funding to pave and seal sections at a time.” Cr Springborg said, “The finished works not only improves the safety and accessibility of this network of roads but also demonstrates our dedication to improving our local roads for the benefit of residents and visitors.”
The Road, originally unsealed, is made safer with the recent improvements which included the realignment of several existing bends to meet the latest design standards, drainage works and the laying of new pavement and sealing
Councillor Jason Watts, who holds the portfolio for Transport, Roads and Youth, said motorists and residents will now enjoy safer and more comfortable travel along the entire stretch of Goodar Road.
“The new works has improved the overall look of the area and more importantly will encourage safer road use and smoother travel for motorists, particularly the local school bus,” Cr Watts said.
The final phase of the works, which included paving and sealing the remaining 5.9 kilometres, was completed on Friday, 18 August.
The project was made possible through joint funding by the Transport Infrastructure Development Scheme (TIDS) and Goondiwindi Regional Council.
