  • Council will be hosting a series of four free workshops for community groups across the region over a two-week period in October
  • Participants will learn fundraising, sponsorship, and grant writing strategies to support their community group’s financial goals
  • Council also provides financial support through programs like the Community Donations program, Community Grants Program, Regional Arts Development Fund Grant, and the Tourism Grant

Goondiwindi Regional Council is pleased to announce a series of four workshops specifically designed to skill and support community groups in generating income.

Following the success of the Volunteer Week workshops earlier this year, a professional local resident, Samantha Noon, will offer the two-hour workshops, specialising in practical tips and tricks to support community groups in reaching their financial goals. The workshops will focus on fundraising and sponsorship and feature a specialised grant writing session by members of Council’s Community Development team.

Mayor of the Goondiwindi Region the Honourable Cr Lawrence Springborg AM said that Goondiwindi Regional Council welcomes the opportunity to support local community groups and acknowledges their contribution to the region’s success.

“Council recognises that raising funds for community groups can be challenging.” Cr Springborg said.

“Community and sporting groups are a vital part of our social fabric, so it’s important that we support them wherever we can, whether that’s financially or through skill-based workshops.

“The workshops will provide an opportunity for the region’s community groups to come together, share ideas and gain valuable knowledge that can assist with strategic planning to achieve their group’s financial goals” he said.

The workshops will be held over a two-week period in October, visiting Texas, Goondiwindi, Inglewood, and Talwood.

“These workshops complement existing community group resources offered by Council’s Community and Economic Development team,” Cr Springborg said.

“The team provides mentoring, support and training to local community groups and sporting clubs to assist them with their strategic planning, marketing, project management and grant applications.”

Council also has available financial assistance to support community organisations including the Community Donations Program, Community Grants Program, Regional Arts Development Fund Grant, and the Tourism Grant.

Interested parties will need to register for the workshops as spaces are limited.
