Free Bush Kids First Aid Workshops Another Huge Success!

« Back

Following the huge success of the Bush Kids First Aid workshops for 5 to 12 year olds over the past six months, Goondiwindi Regional Council are proud to report the free workshops have returned this week for kindergarten students across the region. These workshops are aimed at equipping youngsters with essential life-saving skills, fostering a sense of confidence and readiness in emergency situations.

Taking place in our local kindergartens in Weengallon, Toobeah, Texas, Inglewood, Yagaburne, Yelarbon, and Goondiwindi, these sessions offered hands-on training tailored specifically for young learners.

Council’s portfolio holder for Education and Lifestyle Cr Kym Skinner emphasises the significance of this initiative, stating, "By providing basic first aid skills to our youngest community members, we're empowering them to take action in emergencies, particularly in our regional areas where immediate help may not always be readily available."

Delivered by Cool Kids First Aid, specialists in children's first aid education, each session covers emergency management techniques and essential first-aid skills in an age-appropriate and engaging manner. The interactive nature of the workshops ensures that children grasp these critical skills effectively.

In addition to the kindergarten sessions, Council also hosted a rescheduled Bush Kids First Aid session for 5 to12 year olds in Talwood this week.

This initiative, now having exhausted all funding available, has helped foster a culture of preparedness amongst over 400 children across the region.

Goondiwindi Regional Council is committed to fostering an adaptable and prepared community, starting with its youngest members.
