ROADSIDE RUBBISH COLLECTION SERVICES

Rubbish collection represents one of the major components in the management of rest stop areas and roadside reserves.

Key issues are the collection of rubbish and the spreading of waste often caused by over-topping of roadside bins through excessive household dumping, animal foraging or general littering by motorists. This together with the continuous clearing of illegal dumped waste on roadside reserves creates significant cost to Council, which in turn is passed on to the ratepayer.

The majority of rest stop areas within the regional area are provided with skip bins for the collection of general waste.  Motorists and the community are strongly encouraged to dispose of waste appropriately and join with Council to keep a look out for illegal dumping activities.

“We just need people to close the lid on these roadside bins when they do use them and if they are full, perhaps drive on to the next bin or actual tip," Councils Waste and Regulatory Services Portfolio Councillor Rob Mackenzie said. “People using them really need to look after them a little to help keep costs down,” he said.

Visit Council’s website www.grc.qld.gov.au for details regarding your local waste landfill sites or transfer station.
