Domestic Water at Reduced Rate for Drought Affected Residents

DOMESTIC WATER AT REDUCED RATE FOR DROUGHT-AFFECTED RESIDENTS

Drought-affected residents in the Goondiwindi Regional Council area are reminded that they are able to collect bulk domestic water at a reduced rate.

The ‘Supply of Domestic Water to Drought-Declared Area’ policy entitles residents to a maximum of 30,000 litres (30 kilolitres) for domestic use purchased on a three-monthly basis.

Water can be collected from Council’s fill points at the Goondiwindi, Inglewood and Texas depots during appointed collection times at the same rate as charged to the region’s urban consumers.

‘The entire Goondiwindi Regional Council area is fully drought-declared,’ said Councillor Rick McDougall.

‘We’ve heard from residents concerned about the availability of affordable water as their water supplies are drying up,’ Cr McDougall said.

‘Council is committed to assisting local farming families and businesses doing it tough in drought conditions and I encourage those in our community affected by the drought to make full use of the assistance available.

‘This is a council determined to stand by its rural community - in good times and bad,’ Cr McDougall said.

Eligible residents who wish to take advantage of this assistance must show proof of residency and ensure all charges are paid prior to collection.

Council can make no guarantee of the drinking quality of the water once collected.
