Yelarbon Gets Its Skates On

The installation of a new skate park has brought a long-term vision of the Yelarbon community to life.

The park was completed on 13th March by Skateramps Australia and boasts market-leading design, manufacture and construction.  Located in Lagoon Park, it will present an exciting new opportunity for community members to tap into their inner Tony Hawk and get active in the process.

Queensland Government funding made the project possible through the Get Playing – Places and Spaces program. The initiative provides funding for infrastructure development so that more Queenslanders can be involved in sport and active recreation.

The project faced a number of challenges on the road to installation – from design to location. However, its completion marks a welcome addition to the Yelarbon community.

Mayor Graeme Scheu said “Goondiwindi Regional Council has worked with the Yelarbon community for several years to plan and construct this facility for local youth”.

“Recreational facilities for young people are important infrastructures in our communities and our council is pleased to assist with the funding and project management of the skate park,” he said.
