Goondiwindi Region Flood Update – 30 November 2021

« Back

30 to 60ml has already fallen across the catchment with predictions for similar rain fall rates for the rest of today (Tuesday).

Macintyre River at Goondiwindi is peaking now and will likely cause major flooding downstream (west of Goondiwindi) over the coming days.

Bureau of Meteorology modelling suggests that river rises across the Goondiwindi Region will remain around moderate levels over the coming days based upon current rainfall predictions.

Currently the Barwon, Gore and Leichhardt Highways have closures due to flooding, and the Cunningham Highway has significant flood damage that is unlikely to be resolved within the next 24 hours.

While the advised flood levels are not expected to impact major population centres in the Goondiwindi Region, rural residents will be impacted. Moderate floods of this level do not break out of the river banks at our towns including Goondiwindi but they can impact rural properties on the various floodplains in our region. If you are in a low-lying area or operate a rural business that is impacted by moderate to major flood levels, stay alert, be prepared and monitor the latest weather forecasts and warnings.

Remember: If it's flooded, forget it.
