Goondiwindi Region Flood Update #4 – Yelarbon Residents to Prepare

« Back

Following the major flood in Inglewood overnight, some flood modelling indicates Yelarbon town residents are at risk of potential significant flood impacts later today.

There is currently no requirement for Yelarbon residents to evacuate at this time. As a precaution the Local Disaster Management Group (LDMG) is exploring options for evacuation of residents given the road closures in the area. The options being explored will include higher land for vehicle storage.

IF an evacuation is required, residents will receive an emergency alert to landlines and mobiles and emergency services will be on hand to support notifying residents.

LDMG requests all Yelarbon residents start preparing their properties, including what they will require at an evacuation centre. Due to safety issues, it is important residents understand it is unlikely that they will be able to use their own vehicles if an evacuation is required.

What you will need at an evacuation centre

  • Sleeping equipment – e.g. swag, pillow, blankets, sheets
  • Medication
  • Spare clothing
  • Important documents e.g. insurance papers
  • Mobile phone and charger
