Goondiwindi Region Flood Update #17 – Goondiwindi & West - 4 December 2021

The Macintyre River at Goondiwindi is currently peaking at below 10.5 m.

The Goondiwindi town levee has again protected the town from inundation.

The 24-hour quad bike levee bank monitoring will continue until after the peak has passed.

Council is utilising all available resources to assess and repair road damage across the region. Highway accessibility to and from Goondiwindi is expected early next week.

The LDMG will continue to monitor the situation across the region closely.

The Bureau of Meteorology have issued the following information for properties west of Goondiwindi.

Weir River to Giddi Giddi South - Major flooding is rising between Gunn Bridge and Giddi Giddi South. Moderate flooding is continuing to slowly ease along Wyaga and Yarrill Creeks.

Weir River downstream of Giddi Giddi South - Minor to major flood levels are rising along the lower Weir River between Surrey and Mascot.  The Weir River at Talwood was at 3.42 metres and rising at 6:00 pm Friday, with minor flooding. The Weir River at Talwood is likely to reach the major flood level (4.00 m) during Monday.

Some rural properties around the Yarrill Creek area have reported the highest water on record.

Over the weekend Council will continue supporting recovery efforts Inglewood.
