HAVE YOUR SAY:  GOONDIWINDI REGIONAL COUNCIL ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT STRATEGY

All residents, from every corner of the Goondiwindi region, are invited to contribute their ideas to inform the preparation of the Goondiwindi Region Economic Development Strategy 2018-2023

Goondiwindi Regional Council has taken the first steps to better articulate and promote its role in helping to support business and industry to grow the regional economy, with consultants SC Lennon and Associates appointed to prepare the new Economic Development Strategy.

Goondiwindi Regional Council Mayor Graeme Scheu said the new strategy will define Council’s role in promoting and facilitating economic development, with a focus on Council’s key responsibilities that it can have a direct impact on.

“This new strategy will deliver a plan to inform and enable initiatives which stimulate and support sustainable economic development in the Goondiwindi local government area.”

“Importantly, it will articulate opportunities and actions to facilitate growth for the economic benefit of the whole region,” Mr Scheu said.

Director of SC Lennon & Associates Mr Sasha Lennon said consultation with businesses and the communities of the region will be an important part of the strategy development process.

“This is a strategy for the region so it is essential that we hear from people living, working or running a business in Bungunya, Goondiwindi, Inglewood, Texas, Talwood, Toobeah and Yelarbon, about current issues and emerging opportunities for economic development in their local areas”, he said.

Residents are asked to contribute their ideas via a short online survey.
