QFES ASSISTANT COMMISSIONER’S COMMENDATION AWARD

PRESENTED TO ROBERT BARRETT FOR 35 YEARS’ SERVICE AS AN SES VOLUNTEER

Council would like to acknowledge and congratulate Mr Robert Barrett who recently received the QFES Assistant Commissioner’s Award for 35 years’ service as an SES Volunteer. 

Mayor Graeme Scheu said, “As an SES Volunteer, Robert has provided valuable assistance to the Yelarbon and District Community and should be congratulated for his contribution, efforts and dedication.”

“Our SES Groups are an integral part of the local community and provide for essential support services during emergency and disaster events,” said Mayor Graeme Scheu.

ORDINARY PEOPLE DOING EXTRAORDINARY THINGS

The State Emergency Service (SES) is a volunteer organisation that provides a valuable service to the community.  Under the motto “Be Prepared”, the basic concept of the SES is to encourage self-help and mutual assistance within each community.  SES Volunteers do not receive payment.

The rewards of joining a local SES group includes learning new skills, keeping fit, forming new friendships, gaining valuable qualifications, earning respect within the community, having fun and being active as part of a team.
