COUNCIL WELCOMES ANNOUNCEMENT OF MINING LEASE FOR MRV METALS

Goondiwindi Regional Council Mayor, Cr Graeme Scheu, welcomed the news today of the approval of the Mining Lease for MRV Metals in Texas.

Following the announcement, it is envisaged that operations will commence by January 2018, with a number of employment opportunities to become available.  MRV Metals already employs 17 staff in the office operation based in Texas, with a big percentage of those being sourced locally.  This will continue and increase dramatically as production gets closer.

MRV Metals Managing Director, Jason Elks said that it was a significant advancement for the company to move into operations within a very short timeframe.  However, this is the outcome of efforts since late 2014, so by the time the Company does seek to move onto processing it will be the result of three years of Due Diligence, Technical Evaluations and planning.

“The closure of the Twin Hills site left an awful void in the economic income for the town of Texas and it is pleasing to see a company like MRV Metals step up and continue the operation” Cr Scheu explained.

“We wish MRV Metals all the very best with the venture and eagerly await an opening in early 2018. In times where jobs are paramount, it is a significant announcement for our region.”
