Goondiwindi Cultural Centre Facelift

The Goondiwindi Waggamba Community Cultural Centre is undergoing numerous improvements. Next time you visit the Cultural Centre, Council welcomes you to have a look around!

Caterers are appreciating the brand new high tech kitchen equipment and the bar area facelift.  Those with a keen eye will have all so noticed the beginning of the rollout of a new colour scheme across the facility.

There is state of the art new audiovisual technical equipment in the meeting (river) room.  In addition, locals may have already noticed tree removal, replacement of entry pavers, new blinds, signage and there is still more to come.

The improvements have been thanks to the Queensland State Government’s Works 4 Queensland program, funding a range of initiatives across our region.  At the Cultural Centre alone the improvements have resulted in work for  Bursle’s Tree Service; Steve Collett Electrical; Jason Ross Plumbing; Sam Walker Painter; Elite Maintenance Service; Kindt’s Furniture & Floor Covering; Safewire Qld; Laser Electrical; O’Keefe Welding; Knight’s Plant & Hire; L Bulmer & Co; Gundy Signs, Mydesign; Anderson’s Carpets and Allan Sutton Builders.

Deputy Premier and Minister for Infrastructure and Planning Jackie Trad said Goondiwindi Regional Council estimated that its 2017-19 Works for Queensland projects will support 177 local jobs.

“These are the kind of great community infrastructure projects that Works for Queensland is making possible right across the state, delivering jobs and stimulating the local economy,” Ms Trad said.

“The upgrade of various community and sporting facilities project, including the Goondiwindi Waggamba Community Cultural Centre, is receiving $341,500 from the program and according to the council will support a total of 54 local jobs.”

The new audiovisual equipment makes the meeting (river) room extremely functional and attractive for hosting events into the future.  In addition, achieving the kitchen improvements was on high the priority list for Council, with some of the equipment nearing 20 years old.

“The Goondiwindi Waggamba Community Cultural Centre is an amazing asset to the region, and one we want residents to make the most of at every opportunity.  That means Council needs to have high quality and functional kitchen equipment, and quality audio visual for conferences,” stated Councillor Joan White who has portfolio responsibility for Community facilities.  Councillor White also stated “Watch this space, we haven’t finished yet with a range of additional exciting improvements still to come.”
