PCYC FINALISES GOLDEN AGE LEASE

Council resolved at the February Ordinary Meeting to lease the Golden Age Centre for a period to Goondiwindi PCYC. The lease has now been completed and the PCYC are all set to take over.

From Sunday, 1 October 2017, the Golden Age Centre will be under lease to the Goondiwindi PCYC, therefore the PCYC will be looking after operations including bookings. “The plan by the PCYC Committee is to honour existing commitments and bookings to ensure that the PCYC lease does not disadvantage current and future users.  In principle, the proposal simply changes the management of the facility to the PCYC, which allows for a reduction in costs to Council and for the building to be used more by the community,” said Mayor Graeme Scheu. “Council understands the importance of keeping this as a community resource”.

“It will be business as usual with added activities programmed by the PCYC,” Mayor Graeme Scheu explained. The same will occur for venue hire for parties and functions.

The lease is initially for one year with the further option of another year and it is seen as a success for all.

A reminder and contact details for the PCYC will be distributed via social media on October 1 and advised direct to all current users.
